One Meralco Foundation's School Electrification Program

One Meralco Foundation is the social development arm of the Manila Electric Company that implements programs on community electrification, grassroots partnerships, youth and sports advocacy and emergency preparedness and disaster response.

Key to Meralco’s core corporate social responsibility thrust is the electrification of public schools situated in areas with no source of electricity.  The absence of electricity has a negative impact on the education of students. Teachers in off-grid schools could not integrate modern learning tools in classroom discussions and, as a consequence, students aren’t able to keep up with modern concepts and develop the skills that would lead to high-paying jobs.

One Meralco Foundation has so far energized 245 off-grid public elementary and high schools located in Batangas, Palawan, Bohol, Quezon, Rizal, Dinagat Islands, Cebu, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Romblon, Western Samar, Northern Samar, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, IloIlo, Coron, Busuanga, Davao del Sur, Tawi Tawi, Camarines Sur, Camarines del Norte, and Southern Leyte.

In this massive undertaking, OMF’s technology of choice is Power 4 All’s Mission Solar Power Stations.  Mission systems use a highly innovative design that requires much less space, bulk, installation, complexity and know-how as compared to more conventional solar power formats.  These systems are compact, light weight and easy to transport and set up.  Powered by high performance lithium ferro phosphate batteries and only tier 1 components, Mission Solar Power Stations allow you to go farther, deploy faster, last longer and power more.
