In partnership with POWER 4 ALL, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) began installing a cutting-edge clean water filtration system in Barangay Balogo, a remote village on Banton Island, Romblon, on June 1, 2025. The project was completed on June 9, 2025, after which the system was tested, commissioned, and immediately operated by local personnel.
For years, residents had relied on concrete tank reservoirs and rainwater catchment systems, which remained insufficient to meet their daily needs for potable water.
According to Barangay Captain Aldrin Fonte, the initiative has transformed the community’s well-being; what was once a daily struggle to secure clean water is now replaced with a safe, reliable, and easily accessible source. This effort stands as a testament to how public–private collaboration can deliver lasting solutions to even the most remote locations.
