El Nido Modular Water Treatment Plant Completed, Set to Deliver Safe Water to Over 50,000 Residents and Tourists

El Nido, Palawan—POWER 4 ALL has completed a challenging project to design and build a 3-million-liter-per-day Modular Water Treatment Plant (modTP) installed at the hills of Bulalacao, El Nido, Palawan, a landmark project that will now provide clean, reliable drinking water to residents and visitors of one of the country’s most famous tourist destinations.

The project was completed in eight months and will supply clean water to barangays Bagong Bayan, Buena Suerte, Barotuan, and Corong-Corong, along with the rest of the municipality.

The innovative modular plant introduces a 3 x 1-million-liter-per-day treatment train system, designed to ensure uninterrupted operations. If one train requires maintenance, the remaining two continue supplying up to 2 million liters per day, preventing complete shutdowns. The system is fully automated, equipped with sensors and instruments that adjust to raw water quality. Chemical dosing is activated only when turbidity levels are high, while high-rate clarifiers and multimedia filters allow the plant to produce potable water even under challenging conditions of up to 500 NTU turbidity.

Transporting the large pre-assembled modules across El Nido’s mountainous terrain and unpredictable weather proved to be a major logistical challenge.

During commissioning, rigorous water quality tests confirmed compliance with the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water, validating the plant’s readiness for 24/7 operation.

“This plant will not only improve daily life for residents but also sustain El Nido’s reputation as a world-class tourist destination,” said Adrian Cantos, POWER 4 ALL’s Customer Support Manager, who led the plant’s commissioning .  “Safe water means a healthier community, stronger tourism, and a more secure future.”

The project was made possible through the collaboration of the LGU of El Nido, the Municipal Engineering Office, the Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office (MEEDO), POWER 4 ALL, and HSL.

With its completion, El Nido has set a precedent for sustainable water security. The modular design and advanced technology are now being promoted in other municipalities such as Puerto Princesa, San Vicente, and Culion. Within El Nido, there are also plans for an additional treatment plant using different water sources, with future integration of renewable energy solutions under consideration.

For the people of El Nido, the completion of the modular water treatment plant marks the beginning of a new era—one where safe, reliable, and sustainable water is available for all.
