World Water Day is celebrated to raise awareness, promote sustainable practices, address water scarcity, advocate for sustainable development goals, highlight water-related issues, and encourage action to ensure access to clean and safe water for all.
This serves as a platform for the global water crisis and the importance of freshwater resources for people and the planet.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonio Yulo Loyzaga delivered a keynote message for World Water Day Awards 2024
It provides an opportunity to shed light on various water-related issues such as pollution, waterborne diseases, inadequate infrastructure, climate change impacts on water resources, and the importance of water for ecosystems and biodiversity.
Power 4 All received an award for Kampeon sa Katubigan, which is a water access for the Dumagats Ipo Dam project, at the World Water Day Awards 2024 held on March 22, 2024, at the Park Inn Manila.
Providing a water system powered by a Mission 5100 portable power station to supply clean drinking water was transformative for this community of indigenous people. Instead of having to rely on as rainwater collected from rooftops.
Dumagats now have access to clean water for their daily use without improved sanitation practices and safe drinking water. These communities are at risk of waterborne diseases by creating this new water treatment facility in their area.
The Dumagat community now has access to safe drinking water every day without having to worry about getting sick from diseases caused by unsafe drinking water consumption.
