Governor Atty. Jose "Jing" V. Gambito recently launched the "Silaw ti Umili Project," which seeks to bring solar energy to underserved communities in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Power 4 All, Inc., the winning bidder, supplied 3,000 solar home kits, providing households in remote barangays with the ability to power light bulbs and charge phones. The project is a collaborative effort, supported by funding from Oceana Gold Philippines and SN Aboitiz Power Magat, Inc.
On the 1st tranche of distribution, the Provincial Government aims to bring sustainable energy solutions to 445 households from the Municipality of Quezon that are beyond the reach of conventional electrical services provided by Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (NUVELCO).
The launch event in Quezon was attended by key stakeholders, including Vice Governor Eufemia Dacayo, Board Member Patricio F. Dumlao, Quezon Mayor Dolores Binwag and representatives from SN Aboitiz and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau. These leaders, along with Governor Gambito, emphasized the importance of bringing renewable energy to areas that lack electricity services.

During the launch, Governor Gambito reiterated his administration’s dedication to ensuring that no household is left in the dark, particularly those in geographically isolated areas. “It is my goal to provide solar panels to every home in Nueva Vizcaya that is beyond the reach of NUVELCO’s services. We are not just bringing light, but we are also empowering families, especially the children who need adequate lighting for their studies,” he said.
Quezon Mayor Dolores Binwag also expressed heartfelt gratitude for the project, acknowledging the positive impact it will have on their daily lives.
Through these collaborations, the "Silaw ti Umili Project" is setting a model for sustainable development in rural areas, empowering communities with clean, renewable energy solutions that will have long-term social and economic impacts. Governor Gambito and his administration are determined to make renewable energy a cornerstone in improving the quality of life for every Novo Vizcayano.
