Earlier this month, One Meralco Foundation deployed a Mission 1200 Solar Power Station to Apo Island in Dauin, Negros Oriental to power up the island's school. The compact and plug-and-play system allowed easy transport to the island via pump boat and within the same day of arrival the school had been powered up.
The technology included 500W solar panels and a power cube with a 1 kW output and 1.2 kWh storage. Now teachers can better prepare lesson plans and hold classes even during rainy days when it gets dark and students can have more learning-friendly classrooms and will start to get exposed to lessons in information technology.
