Passing on the Torch

Power 4 All, Zonta Metro Club of Ortigas and Zonta Club of Muntinlupa has just completed their Solar Torch distribution at Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa last August. The team set out to distribute 100 Torches as well as school supplies for 100 families care of the Barangay LGU.

The trip just took 45 minutes from our office in Pasig. A small but densely populated community near the Muntinlupa-Cavite Express way. As busy as the highway is, this community is often overlooked, I myself wasn’t able to imagine a community like this so close to commercially urbanized zones.

The barangay LGU helped organize the beneficiaries and had them seated under tents as the weather was quite rainy.

The team organized the Solar Torches on the tables and one by one started handing them to the residents of the community.

After receiving their Solar Torches, they also received care packages from the barangay LGU.

Even the gloomy weather couldn’t dampen the smiles of the community members knowing that there are still kind hearted people that are willing to reach out and help them. This is what makes our effort worth it.

To be able to bond with the community. To be able to help with what we can. To be able to provide a basic necessity such as light. It really puts into perspective how a small torch means a lot to the community members while we in the city have access in a flick of a switch.

We are grateful to once again have the chance to reach out to those in need and we would like to thank our partners Zonta Metro Club of Ortigas and Zonta Club of Muntinlupa for helping make this possible.
