Power 4 All has recently concluded another outreach project of distributing solar home systems to unelectrified communities in Tanay, Rizal on December 3, 2022.
Ending the year meaningfully, this outreach was the company’s largest so far as far as activities and partnerships. Partnering with Solar Hope, Megaworld Foundation, Zonta Club of Metro Oritgas, JCI Antipolo, JCI Taytay, JCI Metro Rizal, CGI Philippines, Unilab and Sikat Solar Challenge Foundation, Inc., we were able to distribute 50 minihub 2 solar home kits as well as a feeding program and school supplies for 300 students.
We visited a Dumagat Tribe located in Sta. Ines. The community is hard to reach, with capable 4x4s needed to cross 7 rivers and rocky roads from the main highway. During rainy seasons when the river levels rise, the community is cut off from the city. Their main livelihoods are farming and carrying goods from the city up into other communities in the mountains. Although they have rivers nearby, not a lot of people in the community are fishermen and the fishes are usually very small.
While we are able to help provide much needed access to clean power to a number of households, the community still faces many challenges such as educational materials, computers, wifi connectivity, access to clean water, livelihood, healthcare and electrification for the school.
