Despite the pandemic and calamities, OHFH volunteers braved through 3.5 hrs of giant waves and heavy rains to provide Christmas food packs, rice, basic necessities and solar lights to at least 683 families whose homes were destroyed by the typhoon “Ulysses.” Islands of Palumbanes, San Miguel, Batag, Atulayan, and various locations had a brighter Christmas and food to share with their families.
While doing rounds looking for solar lamp beneficiaries. We are appalled when we saw the destruction of their place. And yet, the happy island with their happy people welcomed us with a happy attitude. One hundred thirty families were served here. Their Christmas bag had spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, Eden cheese, and sardines. Fifty seniors were given solar lamps. These grateful people doesn't expect for electricity to come back soon. Those solar lamps will make sure their Christmas won't be in the dark.
