In the wake of Typhoon Kristine, which recently devastated Naga City, many communities were left grappling with severe flooding and prolonged power outages. Hundreds of households were plunged into darkness as the city faced an electricity shortage, further complicating recovery efforts. Recognizing the urgent need for reliable lighting in these challenging conditions, POWER 4 ALL stepped in to provide much-needed support to 27 municipalities in Naga City.
POWER 4 ALL’s take an action through their CSR program #power4good and donated solar search lights to severely affected communities last October 25, 2025 through the initiatives of Angat-Buhay: Museo ng Pag-asa, 84 Cordillera St., Sta Mesa Heights, Quezon City. These high-performance solar search lights was accepted by Menard Mabutol (Arts and Culture Senior Associate, Angat Pinas, Inc.), which can be used in disaster-stricken areas for search and rescue operations and provide essential illumination for families living without access to electricity while power supply is down.
The Impact of Solar Search Lights
As of October 25, 2024, Daily Tribune Manila Standard added, “it has been the worst flooding in 30 years when the resident also seek help as the Typhoon Kristine submerges Bicol.” Typhoon Kristine has affected around 6,000 families across various barangays in Naga City, Camarines Sur. The city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office continues to monitor the situation, coordinating relief operations, and distributing emergency supplies to those in need. Evacuation centers have been set up to accommodate displaced families as efforts are underway to restore essential services like electricity and water supply.
Solar-powered lighting systems like the d.light T200 offer an invaluable solution in emergency situations, particularly when conventional power sources are compromised. According to experts from SolarStarInfo, these lights are not only environmentally friendly but also provide a durable and long-lasting source of illumination in off-grid areas or places recovering from natural disasters.
The T200 solar search lights, powered by photovoltaic panels, harness energy from the sun and store it in rechargeable batteries. This allows them to function even in cloudy weather or during long periods of darkness. Equipped with bright LED bulbs, the T200 delivers powerful, focused light capable of illuminating wide areas, making it ideal for households needing to navigate flood-damaged terrain or conduct nighttime activities safely.
For the households in Naga, this contribution has been more than just a source of light—it has provided security, allowed families to prepare meals, cleaning and repairing their homes, charge mobile phone for communications or gadgets, and enabled communities or LGUs to continue essential tasks like search and rescue, even after sunset.
Restoring Hope Through Solar Power
As POWER 4 ALL’s donation continues to make a difference, it underscores the vital role that renewable energy can play in disaster response. Beyond providing immediate relief, solar technology like the T200 empowers communities to rebuild sustainably. In areas prone to natural calamities, solar lighting systems can be the key to long-term resilience, helping affected populations recover and adapt to future challenges.
#power4good and its CSR employee-member remains committed to supporting communities in need by leveraging innovative, eco-friendly solutions. In the aftermath of Typhoon Kristine, their contribution of solar search lights has not only illuminated homes but also rekindled a sense of hope in Naga City.
By continuing to champion solar power, POWER 4 ALL shows that light, in the most literal sense, can help rebuild and uplift lives.
