ICSC will act as a technical assistance partner for renewable energy (RE) under 350 Pilipinas' new partnership with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Official) (PUP) for collaborative undertakings on climate action and RE campaigns.
At the Memorandum of Agreement signing on April 19, ICSC and 350 Pilipinas turned over solar bulbs, small solar panels, and other RE accessories to PUP President Manuel M. Muhi and Institute of Technology (PUP IT) Dean Ramir Cruz. Donated by POWER 4 ALL, these will be used by PUP IT students and professors to develop and assemble photovoltaic systems (PV) to brighten student centers and public areas across campus.
ICSC’s RE-Charge Pilipinas (RCP) also conducted a Community Renewable Energy (CORE) workshop at PUP IT on April 14, where 75 students and faculty took part in a series of lectures, workshops, and learn-by-doing sessions on RE. Another workshop on assembling Solar TekPaks is currently being planned. “There could be no better place to start RE education than a university like PUP, where students and professors innovate solutions for the people in terms of affordable, reliable energy and doable grassroots solutions to address the climate crisis,” said Arturo Tahup, ICSC’s Director for Community Resilience.
RCP focuses on community-driven RE innovation to achieve climate resilience and inclusive low-carbon development in the Philippines.
