Sitio Pulo is an isolated community in Caniogan, Morong, Rizal consists of 54 families striving for better living. The locals’ livelihood is fishing and farming of kangkong, corn, and rice. This community becomes islanded during high tide or continuous heavy rains and can only be accessed by boat.

The community doesn’t have access to electricity leading people to use car batteries, kerosene lamps, and candles as a source of energy. Their source of water is from deep well but, they are buying potable water from the mainland.

On November 6, 2021, Tanglaw team headed by Engr. Mark Napao (Founder of SOLAR Hope) distributed 54 sets of Mini Hub solar home kits and 54 Bags of Hope for the families of Sitio Pulo which was held at Caniogan covered court.

In the afternoon, the team crossed the river to visit the families from Sitio Pulo, check if they already installed the solar home kits, and also make them feel that someone is caring for them with a simple visit and by listening to their stories.

It is truly remarkable that collective help and effort from different individuals and organizations can empower the lives of marginalized communities.

Let us become a beacon of hope!
